The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has laid the foundation for Nigeria to achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
Yilwatda stated this while representing President Tinubu at the second edition of the Asiwaju Scorecard Series and Asiwaju Policy Roundtable, where he highlighted economic reforms and infrastructure investments by the administration. He said the reforms, though difficult, had strengthened Nigeria’s external reserves, increased non-oil revenue, improved trade performance, sustained economic growth and moderated inflation.
According to him, macroeconomic stability should not be regarded as the final destination but as the foundation for cheaper food, job creation, affordable credit, reliable electricity and improved purchasing power for Nigerians.
Yilwatda said achieving the $1 trillion economic target would require an integrated infrastructure network comprising highways, railways, deep-sea ports, energy infrastructure and digital connectivity to link production centres with domestic and international markets.
He added that the administration’s five-port maritime vision, alongside major road and rail corridors, industrial parks, agro-processing zones, logistics hubs, manufacturing clusters and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, would help transform infrastructure into production, employment, exports and investment.
The APC chairman also stressed the need to invest in young Nigerians through education, skills development, digital training and responsible access to credit, describing the 2027 election as a choice between progress and retreat, productivity and stagnation, and investment and isolation.
He said the task before the administration was now to move “from reform to results, from results to growth, from growth to prosperity” and ultimately to a $1 trillion Nigerian economy by 2030.
