ARCN Boss Hails New Books on Crop Diseases, Pests Management

The Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Dr Adamu Abubakar Dabban, has commended the publication of two books aimed at strengthening knowledge and practical skills in crop protection and management in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit of ARCN, Khadijat O. Ameen (ANIPR), Dabban described the publications as valuable contributions to agricultural research, education and food security in Nigeria.

The books, authored by Dr Saidu Adamu Paiko, are titled Applied Plant Pathology and Crop Disease Management in Nigeria: A Practical Manual for Students in Agriculture and Major Crop Pests of Nigeria: Identification, Biology and Integrated Management.

Dabban spoke at the launch of the books held on September 17, 2026, at Haske Luxury, Governor’s Hall, Minna, Niger State.

He said effective identification and management of crop diseases and pests were essential to improving yields, protecting farmers’ investments and strengthening the nation’s food security.

The ARCN boss urged students, researchers, extension officers, farmers and other agricultural practitioners to utilise the publications as reference materials for learning, research and improved farming practices.

Dabban congratulated Paiko on the achievement, noting that the books would help broaden access to practical agricultural knowledge and support efforts to improve crop production across the country.
