Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 44 suspected terrorists and disrupted an improvised explosive device (IED) operation during separate offensives in Borno State and the Lake Chad area.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, the operations were conducted on October 26 and 28, 2026, following intelligence reports and surveillance observations.
The statement said troops engaged suspected terrorists at separate locations in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno on October 26, with a battle damage assessment indicating that 28 terrorists were killed and six others injured.
In a related operation on October 28, the Maritime Component of the Naval Base Lake Chad, deployed in Baga, conducted offensives against terrorist targets in the Lake Chad area.
Preliminary assessments indicated that eight terrorists were killed, while 10 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The military also said an air interdiction mission disrupted a suspected terrorist team preparing to plant improvised explosive devices.
Eight operatives were reportedly killed during the operation, while their vehicle, motorcycles and IED materials were destroyed.
The command said the intervention prevented the team from carrying out its planned attack.
It added that the operations reflected sustained efforts to weaken terrorist networks, restrict their movement and protect communities across the North-East.
The command urged residents to provide credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and efforts to restore lasting peace in the region.
