The Nigerian Navy has emerged champion of the 2026 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) Cyber Drill Finals organised by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in partnership with SecDojo.
The competition was held on October 27 during the 2026 National Cyber Security Conference.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, commended the winning team, describing its victory as evidence of discipline, dedication and professionalism.
The team comprises Lieutenant Commander J.E. Peter, Lieutenant Y.S. Danladi, Lieutenant M.M. Huseini, Sub-Lieutenant I.B. Gaya and Sub-Lieutenant A. Adam.
According to a statement by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the competition tested participants’ skills in threat detection, incident investigation, application security and offensive and defensive cyber operations through simulated scenarios.
Abbas urged the personnel to sustain the achievement and apply their expertise to strengthen the Navy’s digital security systems and maritime security operations.
The Navy said the victory highlights its commitment to developing specialised skills to protect information systems and critical digital infrastructure.
