The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of personnel and their families, particularly in the areas of education and social support.
Marwa gave the assurance on Friday during a working visit to the newly established NDLEA Command School at the agency’s barracks in Yola, Adamawa State, where he inspected facilities and interacted with pupils, students and teachers.
The NDLEA chairman urged the pupils to embrace discipline, punctuality and academic excellence, stressing that hard work and dedication were essential to achieving their future ambitions.
He advised them to take their studies seriously, read regularly and prepare adequately for examinations, while emphasising the importance of respecting their parents and teachers and maintaining good moral values.
Marwa also warned the pupils against illicit drug use, describing abstinence from drugs as non-negotiable.
He assured them that the agency would continue to invest in the development of the pioneer command school to ensure it provides quality education and grows into one of the leading institutions in the country.

According to him, the establishment of the school is part of efforts to provide children of NDLEA personnel with access to quality education within their immediate community.
The chairman also met with members of the NDLEA Officers’ Wives Association and other residents of the barracks, who commended him for establishing the school.
The women described the initiative as a significant investment in the future of officers’ children and praised the transformation recorded in the agency under his leadership.
Responding, Marwa thanked them for their support and assured them that the welfare of personnel and their families would remain a priority.
He disclosed that plans were at an advanced stage for the formal inauguration of the NDLEA Officers’ Wives Association to provide a platform for officers’ wives to organise, collaborate and contribute to the welfare of the agency’s families.
Marwa was accompanied on the visit by the Zone 2 Commander, ACGN Ishaku Yusuf Kwajafa, and other senior officers.

The visit, according to a statement by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, was aimed at assessing the progress of the newly established school and strengthening the agency’s commitment to education, personnel welfare and institutional development.
