The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed the intensification of intelligence-led air strikes against terrorists and bandits, warning commanders that complacency would not be tolerated.
According to a statement signed by Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Chief gave the directive during a strategic visit to the Headquarters Special Operations Command in Bauchi on April 29, 2026.

Aneke told personnel that all operations of the Nigerian Air Force must remain intelligence-driven, precise and focused on measurable results in order to neutralise threats to national security. He said every mission must count and stressed the need for continued coordination with ground forces.
During the visit, the Air Chief inspected operational equipment, facilities and infrastructure within the command to assess readiness and identify areas requiring improvement. He said sustained operational effectiveness depended on the serviceability of aircraft platforms, systems and support facilities.

The Air Chief also paid a visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, where he emphasised the importance of public trust and community cooperation in achieving lasting security. The monarch commended the Air Force for its role in protecting communities and maintaining stability.
Aneke further said the Air Force was expanding its operational capacity through the acquisition of modern platforms, advanced intelligence systems and continued training of personnel.

He also assured officers and men of improved welfare, including additional residential accommodation and upgrades to support infrastructure in Bauchi and other locations.
