AIT Backs WINSEC 2026, Pledges Live Coverage of Awards Ceremony

The management of African Independent Television, AIT, has pledged comprehensive media support for the 2026 Women in Security Summit and Awards, including live coverage of the awards ceremony.

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, and Chairperson of the WINSEC Committee, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, alongside members of the WINSEC Secretariat, to the management of Daar Communications Plc in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of Daar Communications Plc, Chief Marcel Anyanyechi, commended NAWOJ for initiating a platform that recognizes the contributions of women serving in Nigeria’s security sector.

He described the Women in Security Summit and Awards as a timely initiative that would encourage excellence, dedication and patriotism among security personnel and other stakeholders involved in national security.

Anyanyechi also stressed the need for stronger collaboration among the media, security agencies, government and citizens in addressing the country’s security challenges, noting that security is a collective responsibility.

As part of its support, AIT pledged to provide live coverage of the awards ceremony, extensive news coverage of the event, promotional broadcasts, scroll message announcements and technical support for publicity materials.

The media organization also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting national security awareness and responsible journalism through its platforms.

Earlier, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim thanked the management of AIT for its support, describing WINSEC as a platform designed to promote discussions on security, peacebuilding, gender inclusion, leadership and national development, while recognising outstanding contributions within Nigeria’s security sector.

The Women in Security Summit and Awards 2026, themed “Celebrating Courage, Passion, Loyalty, Commitment and Sacrifice of Service in Securing the Nation,” is scheduled to hold on June 30 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The event is expected to bring together stakeholders from the security, media, governance and civil society sectors to discuss national security issues and honour individuals making significant contributions to the security and development of the country.
