The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has restated the Air Force’s commitment to stepping up air operations against insurgent and terrorist groups across the country. He made the pledge during a strategic meeting with Air Component Commanders in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to a statement signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the session was convened to assess ongoing missions, address operational gaps, and refine strategies in response to evolving threats. Air Marshal Aneke said the security environment demanded rapid, intelligence-led action, stressing that air operations must be marked by precision, coordination and sustained pressure on hostile elements.
He told commanders that the Nigerian Air Force would continue to provide decisive air support to ground and joint forces. “We must dominate the operational space through superior coordination, innovation and professionalism,” he said, adding that every mission must contribute to restoring peace nationwide.

The Air Chief commended personnel for what he described as their resilience, discipline and measurable successes in degrading insurgent capabilities. He said their efforts reflected the Service’s drive to build a highly motivated, mission-ready force.
However, he warned that the threats remained dynamic and called for deeper inter-agency cooperation, enhanced intelligence gathering, and greater use of technology. He also highlighted the need for standardised training and rapid logistics support to sustain operational momentum.
Air Marshal Aneke assured the public that the Air Force would remain “vigilant and aggressive against threats”, insisting that all operations would continue to prioritise civilian protection and national security. The Service, he added, would keep adapting its strategies and strengthening partnerships to secure lasting peace.
