APC Chairman Hails FG, Security Agencies Over Rescue of Abducted Oyo Pupils, Teachers

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has commended the Federal Government and security agencies for the rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda described the successful operation as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

He said the rescue reflected the close collaboration between security agencies, the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government, which he said was instrumental in securing the victims’ safe release.

The APC chairman expressed sympathy for the pupils, teachers and their families, acknowledging the psychological and emotional trauma they experienced during their captivity. He prayed for their full recovery and healing.

Yilwatda commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local intelligence networks and other agencies involved in the operation, saying the rescue highlighted the importance of intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation in addressing insecurity.

He also praised the Oyo State Government for working with the Federal Government and security agencies throughout the rescue effort, describing the partnership as an example of cooperation beyond political differences in the national interest.

Reaffirming the APC-led administration’s commitment to improving security, Yilwatda said President Bola Tinubu remained focused on strengthening the country’s security architecture through enhanced intelligence gathering, the deployment of technology and continued support for security agencies.

He urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to help prevent criminal activities, saying collective vigilance remained essential in the fight against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.

Yilwatda also expressed confidence in the Tinubu administration’s security reforms, saying the government would continue efforts to restore peace and security across the country.
