The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged voters in Cross River State to turn out in large numbers to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the January 2027 presidential election.

Yilwatda made the appeal at the APC presidential campaign rally in Calabar, where he joined Vice-President Kashim Shettima and other party leaders to canvass support for the President.

He commended residents for their turnout and reception at the rally but urged them to translate their enthusiasm into votes during the election.

The APC chairman said Cross River State had significant economic potential, particularly in maritime commerce, transportation and trade, which he said could be harnessed through the Federal Government’s infrastructure development plans.

He identified the proposed nationwide superhighway network, railway development and expansion of seaport infrastructure as initiatives capable of improving connectivity and attracting investment to the state and the wider South-South region.

According to him, improved rail transportation would ease the movement of people and goods, while functional seaports could expand maritime business, create employment and open new opportunities for local enterprises.

He said the infrastructure projects were part of President Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, designed to reduce transportation costs, connect production centres with markets and stimulate economic activities.

Yilwatda urged the electorate to consider the long-term implications of infrastructure investment and economic reforms, arguing that continuity in government would provide an opportunity to deepen ongoing projects and policies.

He also called on APC members, traditional rulers, community leaders, youths and women to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure the party’s message reached every ward across the state.

The party chairman expressed confidence that Cross River would play a significant role in the APC’s electoral performance in 2027, urging residents to support the continuation of the Tinubu administration.

He said a renewed mandate would enable the Federal Government to consolidate its reforms, accelerate infrastructure development and expand economic opportunities.
