The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has warned against attempts to derail what he described as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic renewal agenda for Northern Nigeria, insisting that the administration’s investments are designed to transform the region into a major economic hub in Africa.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the Tinubu administration was deliberately investing in infrastructure, agriculture, energy and education to reposition the North as a centre for trade, productivity and regional integration.

According to him, the region’s strategic location gives it the potential to become a gateway for commerce with neighbouring countries including Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin Republic. He
said ongoing projects in roads, rail transport, irrigation, power and agro-processing would stimulate local economies and boost cross-border trade.
The APC chairman also highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a major intervention aimed at expanding access to tertiary education for Northern youths, describing it as a transformational policy that would produce a more skilled and competitive workforce for the region.
Yilwatda urged political leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the North to support the administration’s development agenda and cautioned against what he called self-serving politicians whose ambitions could undermine the progress being made.
He further criticised opposition politicians, questioning their ability to govern the country effectively, while describing President Tinubu as a resilient democrat committed to nationaldevelopment and inclusive leadership.
