Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has praised soldiers for their bravery and commitment in tackling terrorism, insurgency and other security threats across the country.
He made the remarks on Saturday while hosting soldiers serving in Abuja to an interfaith breaking of fast at the TA Lagbaja Banquet Hall of the Nigerian Army Conference Centre and Suites in Asokoro.

In his address, Lieutenant General Shaibu paid tribute to troops deployed in the North-East, North-West and North-Central, commending their sacrifices in ongoing operations. He said the coinciding observance of Ramadan and Lent highlights values such as sacrifice, patience anddiscipline, which reflect the ethos of the Nigerian soldier.
The army chief also stressed the importance of leadership, troop welfare and morale, urging soldiers to remain united and resolute despite the country’s security challenges. He encouraged them to remember fallen colleagues who lost their lives defending the nation.

Lieutenant General Shaibu reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable and combat-ready force capable of carrying out its responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency security framework.
Earlier, the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General Isa Abdullahi, said the interfaith gathering symbolised unity and shared purpose among soldiers of different faiths. He commended troops deployed across various operational theatres for their dedication and sacrifice.
