Army Chief Unveils New Properties Headquarters, Pledges Better Welfare for Soldiers

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has inaugurated the new corporate headquarters of the Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL) in Abuja, describing the project as a key step in strengthening welfare and boosting professionalism within the military.

Speaking at the ceremony in Asokoro on Thursday, Gen Shaibu said the facility reflects the Army’s wider push to modernise its administrative systems and improve conditions for personnel. He described NAPL as central to his command philosophy of building a “more professional, adaptable and combat-ready force” capable of meeting Nigeria’s security demands.

The Army chief paid tribute to NAPL’s leadership, including its chairman, retired Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun, as well as former Chiefs of Army Staff and other stakeholders who, he said, had helped build a solid foundation for the organisation. He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he called consistent support to the Nigerian Army and ongoing reforms across the service.

Earlier, the Group Managing Director of NAPL, Brigadier General Isa Doma (Rtd), said the completion of the headquarters was a milestone in efforts to expand the company’s operational capacity and staff welfare. He praised the officers, soldiers, staff and partners who contributed to the project.

The new complex includes a guest house, car park, worship centre, upgraded workspaces, a conference room, mini auditorium, internet infrastructure and a 500 KVA transformer.

The ceremony was attended by senior military figures, including former Chiefs of Army Staff Tukur Buratai and Faruk Yahaya, as well as serving and retired officers.
