The Nigerian Army has commissioned new training facilities at the 3 Division Training School and Shooting Range in Miango, Plateau State, as part of efforts to improve the operational readiness and combat effectiveness of its personnel.

The facilities, comprising newly constructed hostel blocks, were inaugurated on Tuesday by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

According to a statement signed by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army chief said the new infrastructure would enhance the quality of training for officers and soldiers by providing a more conducive environment for learning and professional development.

Shaibu described training as the foundation of the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness, stressing that improved learning facilities are essential to producing skilled, disciplined and mission-ready personnel capable of responding to evolving security challenges.

He also reaffirmed his command philosophy, anchored on the “Soldier First” concept, saying investment in the welfare and professional development of personnel remains critical to building a motivated and combat-ready force.

The Chief of Army Staff commended the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, for initiating the project and ensuring prudent management of resources.

He said the facilities would further strengthen the Army’s capacity to carry out its constitutional responsibility of protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
