A delegation from the Army Headquarters Department of Operations (AHQ DAOPS) on Wednesday visited the North-East theatre to assess the operational effectiveness of troops under Operation HADIN KAI.
The visit, held at the Headquarters Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI in Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri, was disclosed in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, on April 1, 2026.
The team was received by the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, and was briefed on ongoing operations and
activities within the theatre as part of efforts by Army Headquarters to evaluate performance and enhance efficiency across operational fronts.

Speaking during the visit, the Team Leader, Colonel Olubukola Olusanya, commended the command for what he described as a detailed and insightful briefing, noting that it reflected significant successes recorded in the theatre. He said the assessment was aimed at identifying gaps and areas requiring urgent attention, adding that such reviews support continuous improvement through timely recommendations.
Olusanya assured the theatre command of an objective evaluation, with feedback expected to further strengthen operational effectiveness across all theatres of operation.
In his remarks, Major General Abubakar highlighted the importance of external assessments in identifying operational gaps andimproving ongoing military efforts. He urged the delegation to provide actionable recommendations to enhance efficiency in Operation HADIN KAI and other theatres nationwide.

The theatre commander disclosed that troops had recently neutralised over 300 terrorists across key locations, including the Timbuktu Triangle, Sambisa Forest and Mallamfatori, during the ongoing dry season operations. He said the successes had boosted troop morale and were driven by improved logistics, administrative support and adherence to the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy.
He added that the operation’s reward and sanction system had strengthened discipline and encouraged more proactive and innovative approaches in counter-terrorism efforts.
The visit featured an interactive session, presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph.
