The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) has begun a three-day operational visit to the Nigerian Air Force Logistics Command in Lagos, aiming to strengthen logistics readiness and assess facilities supporting nationwide counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations.

In a statement signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the visit underscores the growing importance of logistics in sustaining modern airpower, with the CAS insisting that operational success depends on a reliable supply chain, efficient maintenance systems and a motivated workforce.

The Air Chief also met Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reaffirming the strong partnership between the Service and the state. He described Lagos as central to the Air Force’s ability to project airpower across Nigeria, hosting key formations that support missions nationwide. Governor Sanwo-Olu, in response, pledged continued cooperation with the Armed Forces, calling security the backbone of Lagos’ economic strength.

During the tour, the CAS commissioned new welfare projects at 055 NAF Camp, Legico Barracks, emphasising that personnel welfare remains a core pillar of operational readiness. The facilities include two blocks of 24 two-bedroom flats, a block of 40 one-bedroom flats and a modern sports complex. He said the upgraded accommodation—located in one of Lagos’ prime districts—reflects the Air Force’s commitment to improving living standards for its personnel.

The CAS credited his predecessor, Air Marshal HB Abubakar (rtd), for initiating the projects and urged beneficiaries to maintain high discipline and a culture of ownership. He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly for continued fiscal backing.

He reminded officers and airmen to remain disciplined ambassadors of the Service and to foster strong relations with host communities and security partners. The visit, he added, reflects the Air Force’s integrated approach to logistics readiness, welfare improvement and intergovernmental cooperation—key ingredients for sustaining an agile and mission-ready force.
