The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has stressed the need for closer coordination among security agencies to tackle the country’s security challenges.
In a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relation, Col Appolonia Anele; He made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, during a familiarisation visit to Army Headquarters in Abuja.

The IG called for stronger collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force, saying joint efforts are essential in addressing internal security threats.
He also praised the existing partnership between the two institutions and acknowledged the army’s role in training Police Mobile Force personnel, which he said has improved operational effectiveness.

Disu added that the police would continue to support joint operations through intelligence sharing and coordinated action.
In response, Lieutenant General Shaibu congratulated the inspector general on his appointment and reaffirmed the army’s commitment to working closely with other security agencies.

He highlighted ongoing cooperation between the army and police in states such as Kogi, Kwara and Niger, where operations against banditry and kidnapping are underway.
