The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Dr Abdullahi Bello, has urged staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.
Speaking at an enlightenment session on good governance and ethical conduct for NDDC staff in Port Harcourt, Bello warned that ignorance of the law would not excuse violations. He stressed that asset declaration remained a mandatory obligation for all public servants and called for greater commitment to transparency, accountability and professionalism within the Commission.
He advised staff to complete and submit their Code of Conduct forms to avoid sanctions, noting that the Bureau was established not to victimise public servants but to promote compliance through enlightenment and enforcement of the law.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, described ethical conduct as fundamental to good governance. He said the Commission was aligning its operations with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises transparency and accountability.
Ogbuku disclosed that the NDDC was implementing a Governance Advisory Report aimed at strengthening its performance and repositioning it for greater impact. According to him, the initiative would support the Commission’s transition from routine transactions to transformational service delivery.
He added that the enlightenment programme would deepen staff understanding of standard operating procedures and the code of conduct, while also enhancing internal collaboration, communication and accountability across the organisation. Also speaking, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, said the initiative formed part of ongoing efforts to instil a culture of integrity and transparency among staff.
Represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Sir Kelechi Nwelue, Iyaye urged employees to comply with civil service rules, financial regulations and other relevant laws governing public service.
