The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has reaffirmed that sustained collaboration with key stakeholders is critical to securing Nigeria’s maritime environment. He stated this while receiving the Chief Executive Officer of New Guard Security & Consultancy Services Limited (NGSCL), Major General Jamil Sarham (Rtd), during a courtesy visit to Naval Headquarters in Abuja.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the NGSCL boss said the company serves as a coordinating interface between government security agencies and Private Security Companies (PSCs), with the aim of standardising operations, enhancing regulatory compliance, and promoting synergy within the security architecture.
Sarham disclosed that the firm has established a Project Management Office and commenced fulloperations, adding that ongoing engagements have helped reduce operational frictions between PSCs and the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He also commended the Nigerian Navy for its professionalism and sustained operations against crude oil theft, noting that these efforts have contributed to improved oil production and economic stability.

In his response, Vice Admiral Abbas welcomed the initiative and emphasised the need for institutionalised collaboration to tackle evolving maritime security challenges. He noted that previous areas of friction with private security operators had been significantly reduced and assured the company of the Navy’s continued support in strengthening coordinated efforts to protect critical national assets.
