FCT Police Command Denies Terrorist Attack Allegations, Launches Investigation Into Viral Video

The FCT Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading a viral video claiming terrorists are advancing on Abuja, with gunshots reportedly “raining heavily” in the Federal Capital Territory.

The Command, in a statement by its spokesperson, ASP Josephine Adeh, states there’s no record of any such attack or security breach in Abuja or the FCT.

According to the statement, preliminary findings show the gunshot sounds in the video were edited from an unrelated source and superimposed on footage of an unidentified location, with no link to the FCT.

CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi has ordered a forensic investigation to identify and apprehend the video’s originator for prosecution.

The Command cautions content creators against spreading false information, emphasizing its commitment to safety and security. Residents are advised to ignore and refrain from sharing such content, designed to cause panic.
