FCT Police Command intensifies proactive crime prevention through church patrol operations.

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has directed enhanced security in worship centres and residences during the ember months.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Josephine Adeh, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilante groups, conducted a special church patrol on Sunday, 9th November 2025. The operation, which covered forested and border communities linking Bwari–Kaduna State, Bwari–Niger State, and Gwagwalada–Niger State, was carried out between 06:00AM and 05:30PM to strengthen community confidence, deter criminal elements, and ensure worshippers can attend religious services without fear or harassment.

During the patrol, church leaders in the affected areas were engaged and reassured of the Commissioner’s unwavering commitment to their safety and that of their congregations. They were also sensitized on proactive security practices such as reducing late-night activities, maintaining constant communication with security agencies, and reporting suspicious persons or movements.

The CP further directed the immediate blocking of identified access routes commonly exploited by criminals, while maintaining strategic security posts within forest areas under active supervision.

The commissioner reiterated that safety is a shared responsibility and urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with the police and other security agencies.
