The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has arrived in Liberia ahead of the country’s 69th Armed Forces Day, where he is expected to deliver an address on Wednesday.
According to a statement signed by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the Army Chief was received in Monrovia by Major General Davidson Forley, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia. Gen Shaibu inspected a Guard of Honour in a ceremony reflecting the long-standing ties between both militaries.

As part of his visit, the Nigerian Army Chief also met officials at Nigeria’s Embassy in Liberia, where he was received by the Chargé d’Affaires, Ambassador Rahmat Muhammad. Hecommended the mission’s efforts in advancing bilateral relations and protecting Nigerian interests in the country.
The Nigerian Army said the visit underscores Abuja’s commitment to defence diplomacy and regional security cooperation, particularly within West Africa. It added that Gen Shaibu’s participation in the celebrations highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with allied African militaries.

Gen Shaibu, who previously served as Military Assistant to a former Chief of Staff of the Liberian Armed Forces, is a recipient of Liberia’s Distinguished Service Order in recognition of his contributions to the country’s defence sector.
