IELPN Calls On Institutions Of Learning To Adopt Innovative Pedagogy Of The 21st Century
The Institute of Educational Leadership Practitioners of Nigeria, (IELPN), has said the adoption of modern teaching techniques as oppose to the traditional methods will engender a paradigm shift that enhances the learning process tremendously.
This forms part of discussions at the 2024 international conference of the IELPN, on Wednesday, in Abuja.
The Institute further tasked institutions of learning in the country to embrace innovative technologies of the 21st century to enhance the teaching and learning processes in schools.
While delivering his keynote address, the executive secretary of the National Commission for College of Education, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle enjoined institutions of learning to embrace the new technological innovations and do away with the archaic lecture and hand out method.
In order to use these innovative pedagogies in delivering effective and quality education to students at all levels, he charge teachers and lecturers to first equip themselves with some leadership skills and also accept these innovations before they can properly utilize them.
Speaking separately at the event, the President, and the Registrar of the institute, Professor Sunday Osaat and Dr. Taiwo Olufunmilayo Olusa, listed some of the efforts made by the institute in collaboration with other institutes in the education sector to achieve the goal of education revolution.
The highlights of the event include the induction of 24 fellows into the institute.
Some of the inductees, including the Dean of School of Education, FCT College of Education, Zuba, Dr. Badamosi Ayuba Targa, re-emphasised the need to employ innovative methods to facilitate learning processes.
The theme for the IELPN international conference, 2024 is: “Revolutionising Education: Harnessing Innovative Pedagogies And Leadership For 21st Century Students.”
