IGP Disu Seeks Stronger Welfare Support for Security Personnel

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Riliwan Disu, has called for sustained collaboration to improve the welfare of security personnel and their families, saying better support for officers is crucial to morale and operational effectiveness.

The call followed a courtesy visit by the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association, DEPOWA, Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede, and her delegation to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and DEPOWA in promoting the welfare and wellbeing of officers and their families.

IGP Disu described DEPOWA as an important pillar of support for security personnel and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to initiatives aimed at economic empowerment, psychosocial support, quality healthcare and education.

The delegation included the President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association, Chief Mrs Mutiat Disu; Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association President, Mrs Safiya Shuaibu; Naval Officers’ Wives Association President, Mrs Aisha Idi Abbas; and Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association President, Mrs Ngozi Aneke.

The Police Force also commended DEPOWA and other officers’ wives associations for their continued support to personnel across Nigeria’s security services.
