The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has condemned the attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, which resulted in the loss of lives, and ordered the immediate deployment of security assets to restore peace and apprehend those responsible.
According to a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the police chief also commiserated with the Plateau State Government, affected families and residents of the community over the incident.
The IGP had earlier deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, to the state to assess the situation, coordinate ongoing operations and reinforce the existing security framework.
He has further directed the deployment ofadditional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units and intelligence operatives, working alongside other security agencies, to address the security challenges and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The police boss said the intensified operations would continue until normalcy is fully restored, while directing commanders to ensure visible policing and strengthen engagement with vulnerable communities.
He urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies and avoid taking the law into their own hands, stressing the importance of promptly reporting suspicious activities to support ongoing efforts.
