IGP Visits Oyo Community After Deadly Attack, Orders Intensified Rescue Operations

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State following a deadly attack and abduction incident that occurred in the area on Friday.

During the visit, the IGP expressed deep concern over the attack and extended condolences to families of victims who lost their lives in the incident.

Disu was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Ojo Adekimi, due to the proximity of the affected communities to Kwara State borders, as well as the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Schools Protection Squad, Abayomi Shogunle.

The IGP also met with the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Abimbola AyodejiOlugbenga, and other security stakeholders to assess ongoing rescue operations and security deployments in the affected communities.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP directed intensified search-and-rescue operations, intelligence gathering, and tactical deployments to ensure the safe return of abducted victims and arrest those responsible for the attack.

Disu condemned the incident as cruel and unacceptable, assuring residents, parents, and guardians that the Nigeria Police Force, alongside other security agencies, would spare no effort in restoring normalcy to the area.

He further ordered the deployment of additional tactical and intelligence assets to strengthen ongoing operations across the affected communities and surrounding forests.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated itscommitment to protecting schools, communities, and citizens across the country.
