The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will resume the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by mid-August, beginning with an online pre-registration phase.
This is contained in a statement by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun.
According to the statement, the in-person registration will commence a week after the online phase begins. Both processes will then run concurrently for a full year, concluding on August 30, 2026.
Registration will take place on weekdays, excluding national public holidays.
To facilitate easy access, the Commission will launch an online CVR Live Locator to help citizens identify the nearest registration centres across the country.
On political party registration, INEC stated that it has received eight additional letters of intent from associations seeking to be registered as political parties, bringing the total number of applications to 151.
The Commission added that details of the latest submissions have been uploaded to its website, and the process of shortlisting associations that meet the eligibility criteria to proceed to the application stage is underway.
