The Kano State Police Command has stated that the ongoing recruitment screening exercise for police constables is proceeding smoothly, with officials emphasising transparency and professionalism throughout the process. The exercise, taking place at the Police Officers’ Mess in Bompai, Kano, began on 9 March and is being conducted in phases.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, for the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the screening involves physical assessments handled by police personnel and verification of credentials overseen by the Police Service Commission (PSC). A PSC team led by Alhaji Ibrahim Maikudi is working alongside police officers to ensure compliance with established guidelines.

Officials say the exercise has continued without disruption, with candidates processed in an orderlymanner. The head of the Police Recruitment Team, Deputy Commissioner of Police Habibu Rabiu, commended officers involved for maintaining discipline and professionalism, urging them to sustain standards that ensure a fair and credible process.

He also reiterated a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, that the recruitment exercise is free of charge. Candidates and members of the public were warned against fraudsters who may seek to exploit the process by demanding payment or offering undue influence.

The command said security arrangements remain in place at the venue to ensure the safety of applicants and officials. It also urged candidates to remain orderly and adhere strictly to guidelines as the screening continues.
