Military Boosts Civil Relations with School Support Initiative in Anambra

The Armed Forces has provided educational materials to pupils of Ogwumabiri Primary School in Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, in a move aimed at strengthening civil-military relations and supporting learning in the community.

According to a statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olalekan Ayeni, the outreach was carried out under Operation UDOKA as part of efforts to promote education and foster closer ties between the military and civilians.

During the event, pupils were presented with school bags and exercise books by military representatives, with community members in attendance.

Representing the Commander of the Joint Task Force South East and General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Oluremi Fadairo, the Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, said the initiative underscored the importance of education in driving development and social progress. He also reassured residents of the military’s continued commitment to ensuring security and stability in the area.

Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ayeni said the programme reflects the Armed Forces’ broader efforts to build trust, encourage displaced residents to return and support long-term peace in the region.

The headteacher of the school, Grace Nnubia, expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a boost to both pupils and staff, while pledging to uphold high standards of learning.

The military said it would continue to undertake similar initiatives alongside its security operations to promote peace and development.
