The army has deployed more than 850 additional troops to Plateau State in a bid to contain rising tensions and improve security in affected areas.
In a statement signed by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the military said the deployment was approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, to reinforce ongoing operations under Operation Enduring Peace.

The statement said the troops, drawn from formations in Abuja and Kaduna, have been tasked with protecting lives and property and restoring law and order across the state.
During a visit to the headquarters of the task force in Jos, the army chief urged soldiers to remain professional, disciplined and firm in dealing with criminal elements, while assuring them of adequate logistical support.
Authorities say the move is part of efforts to stabilise the security situation and prevent further violence in Plateau State.
