Military Rescue 27 Kidnap Victims in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 27 kidnapped victims in Katsina State during a swift response to terrorist attacks, recovering a motorcycle in a separate operation.

In a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, on October 20, 2026, the military said the victims were rescued on October 16 after terrorists abducted 15 males and 12 females from Gamji community in Sabuwa Local Government Area.

The troops pursued the attackers along the Gangare-Kamba axis and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee.

The rescued victims were unharmed, profiled and handed over to community leaders for reunification with their families.

In a separate operation around Kurba village in Kankara Local Government Area, troops on a fighting patrol encountered terrorists riding three motorcycles. The suspects fled on sighting the troops, abandoning one motorcycle.

The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their swift response and reaffirmed the task force’s commitment to restoring peace and security in Katsina, Zamfara and neighbouring states.
