The military in Plateau State Nigeria have intensified operations in the city of Jos following renewed tensions in Plateau State, carrying out stop-and-search exercises and targeted patrols across key areas.
According to a statement signed by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, troops launched a coordinated security sweep on Friday aimed at preventing further escalation of violence in Jos North and surrounding areas.

The military said two suspects were arrested during the operation, with weapons including a locally made AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, ammunition and a cutlass recovered at various locations such as Dadinkowa, Old Airport Junction, Tudun Wada and the state’s low-cost housing estate.
In a separate incident, troops responded to reports of gunfire at the Yelwa cattle market in Shendam, where suspected gunmen fled on sighting security forces. Two residents with gunshot wounds were found at the scene and taken to hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the operation would continue across Plateau State, with an increased security presence aimed at restoring calm and preventing further violence.
