Morka: APC Publicity Secretary Under the Spotlight

Public Affairs Commentator and Development Advocate, Olokor Michael, has described the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, as one of the party’s prominent voices in Nigeria’s political communication space.

In an opinion article, Olokor said Morka’s responsibility goes beyond issuing party statements, noting that the position requires communicating the APC’s policies, responding to criticism and presenting the party’s position on major national issues. Morka, a lawyer and former civil society advocate, emerged as APC National Publicity Secretary at the party’s 2022 National Convention. Since then, he has maintained a visible presence across television, radio and other media platforms, particularly on issues concerning governance, the economy, opposition politics and the 2027 political landscape.

His public engagements have often involved defending the APC and responding to criticism of the party and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His legal and advocacy background has also shaped his approach to political debates, where he frequently relies on detailed arguments and direct responses.

Morka’s political communication role has attracted both support and criticism, reflecting the contentious nature of partisan politics and the scrutiny faced by spokespersons of the governing party. Beyond party politics, he has a background in human rights and civil society advocacy, having been associated with the Civil Liberties Organisation and founded the Social and Economic Rights Action Centre (SERAC).

He has also served as Chairman of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), adding a media dimension to his public career.While acknowledging Morka’s visibility in the APC’s communication structure, Olokor stressed that political spokespersons must be judged largely by the clarity, credibility and substance of the arguments they put before the public.

He described Morka as a consistent defender of the APC, whose role has placed him at the centre of the party’s engagement with the media the wider Nigerian public and beyond.
