The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its air support has disrupted the activities of suspected kidnappers operating around Ogbadigbo Local Government Area of Benue State, near the Enugu-Benue boundary.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation involved close air support for surface forces targeting the criminal elements in the area.
The NAF said the air operation disrupted the kidnappers’ activities and supported the advance of ground troops.
It added that following the mission, the helicopter pilot, on his return to base, exercised professional discretion to make a precautionary landing about 10 nautical miles from the airfield in line with established operational and safety procedures.
The helicopter subsequently returned to base, the statement said.
The Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustained air support for ground forces and coordinated operations aimed at disrupting criminal activities and protecting communities.
The NAF said the operation demonstrated its resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action and support efforts to restore security in affected communities.
