NAF Airlifts Sensitive Electoral Materials for Ekiti Governorship Poll, By-Elections

As the Ekiti State governorship election and a series of senatorial and federal constituency by-elections scheduled for June 20, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has airlifted sensitive electoral materials to designated locations across the country to support the conduct of the polls.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was carried out between June 15 and 16 at the request of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the secure and timely delivery of election materials.

The airlift operation supported preparations for the Ekiti governorship election, senatorial by-elections in Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State, Nasarawa North Senatorial District of Nasarawa State and Rivers South East Senatorial District of Rivers State.

It also covered federal constituency by-elections in Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency of Kano State and Zuru/Shanga Federal Constituency of Kebbi State.

The NAF said the sensitive materials were transported from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to designated airports in Enugu, Rivers and Kano states for onward distribution by INEC.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the personnel involved in the operation, describing the successful airlift as a demonstration of the Air Force’s commitment to supporting democratic institutions and national development.

The Air Force noted that the operation further strengthened its longstanding partnership with INEC in safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process through the timely delivery of sensitive election materials.

The NAF also reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting civil authorities in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities while maintaining operational readiness in defence of the country.
