The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has praised the courage and professionalism of two Alpha-Jet pilots who safely ejected after their aircraft developed a critical fault on 6 December 2025 during a post-inspection test flight at the NAF Base in Kainji, Niger State. The jet encountered an in-flight emergency shortly after take-off, prompting the pilots to steer it away from populated areas before making a controlled ejection. Both officers landed safely and are undergoing routine medical evaluation.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the pilots for acting with “remarkable composure” and preventing what could have been a major disaster. He has ordered an immediate Board of Inquiry to investigate the cause of the incident. NAF also acknowledged the swift response of its Search and Rescue teams, Fire and Crash units, and medical personnel, who quickly secured the area and ensured the safety of the crew.

The Air Force says the event underscores the inherent risks of military aviation and the daily sacrifices made by its personnel operating in high-risk environments to safeguard the nation. It reiterated its commitment to strict safety standards, operational excellence and the protection of citizens and aircrew alike.
