The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Friday conducted its second-quarter route march exercise across all commands and formations nationwide as part of efforts to enhance combat readiness and operational preparedness.

In a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the exercise involved officers, airmen and airwomen at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja and formations across Makurdi, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Kaduna, Enugu and Lagos.

Speaking at the closing ceremony in Abuja, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi, said the exercise wasaimed at improving physical fitness, discipline, endurance and operational effectiveness among personnel.

He noted that the country’s security challenges require a force that is physically fit, mentally resilient and prepared to respond effectively to threats such as terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and crude oil theft.

The air chief added that the exercise aligns with the NAF’s commitment to maintaining a professional and mission-ready force capable of supporting national security objectives.

He also directed personnel to sustain regular sporting activities to promote fitness, teamwork and esprit de corps across the Service.
