NDLEA Warns Public Against Fake Vehicle Auction Scam

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has warned Nigerians to disregard fraudulent offers by scammers claiming to sell forfeited vehicles on behalf of the agency.

In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the agency said criminal elements are impersonating senior NDLEA officials, particularly the Secretary to the Agency, Barrister Shadrach Haruna, by sending fake letters and messages offering vehicles at discounted prices.

The NDLEA described the offers as a scam aimed at defrauding unsuspecting members of the public, stressing that no official of the agency is authorised to privately allocate or sell forfeited vehicles or any other seized assets.

According to the agency, all forfeited assets are disposed of only through transparent public auctions conducted by government-approved auctioneers and widely advertised in national newspapers and through the agency’s official communication channels.

The anti-narcotics agency urged members of the public to ignore and report any private letters, text messages or social media posts claiming to offer forfeited vehicles on behalf of NDLEA officials.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the agency advised anyone approached with such fraudulent offers to report the matter to the nearest NDLEA command or through its official communication channels.
