Nigerian Army Graduates 3,000 Recruits to Boost Manpower

The Nigerian Army has graduated more than 3,000 recruits at the Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi State, as part of efforts to strengthen its manpower and enhance national security.

The recruits passed out on Wednesday during a ceremony presided over by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who charged them to uphold discipline, loyalty and professionalism as they begin active military service.

In a release issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said the graduation forms part of its ongoing recruitment drive to reinforce operational capacity in response to Nigeria’s security challenges. It noted that the exercise follows recent recruit graduations at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, and the newly established training depot in Osogbo, Osun State.

Addressing the recruits, Lieutenant General Shaibu said their training had been designed to prepare them for modern warfare and Nigeria’s evolving security threats. He urged them to remain committed to the Constitution, demonstrate professionalism and justify the investment made in their training through dedicated service.

The Army chief described the Amasiri-Edda depot as a strategic addition to the Army’s training infrastructure and commended the instructors and support staff for producing combat-ready soldiers.

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, said the establishment of the training depot had improved security and economic activities in the state. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces and other security agencies in promoting peace and development.

The passing-out parade was attended by senior military officers, government officials, traditional rulers and families of the recruits, with awards presented to outstanding trainees.
