The Nigerian Navy has announced the death of Rear Admiral Musa Bello Katagum, who served as Chief of Operations at the Naval Headquarters. According to the Navy, he died in Egypt while receiving medical care after a protracted illness.
In a statement signed by Captain AA Folorunsho, Acting Director of Information, the service described Rear Admiral Katagum as a dedicated and highly respected officer whose contributions were instrumental to recent operational successes.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, along with officers, ratings and civilian staff, said they were deeply saddened by the loss, noting that the late Rear Admiral was known for his professionalism, strategic insight and unwavering commitment to national security.

The Navy added that his leadership and loyalty throughout his distinguished career would remain a source of inspiration across the armed forces.
Rear Admiral Katagum has been buried according to Islamic rites. The Nigerian Navy extended its condolences to his family, friends and colleagues and requested that the information be disseminated to the public.
