Nigerian Navy Rescues Victims of Building Collapse in Lagos

Personnel of the Nigerian Navy have rescued victims trapped in a building that collapsed at Alakija in Lagos State and evacuated them to hospital for medical treatment.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the rescue operation was launched after the Navy received a distress call about the incident. Naval personnel were immediately deployed to the scene, where they joined other emergency responders in search and rescue efforts that led to the successful extraction of several victims from the rubble.

The statement said the rescued victims were taken to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, where they received emergency medical treatment and continued care from medical personnel.

The Chief of the Naval Staff commended the officers involved in the rescue operation and the hospital’s medical team for their response. He also appreciated other emergency agencies and members of the public for their collaboration during the operation.

The Nigerian Navy expressed sympathy to families affected by the incident and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery. It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting civil authorities through humanitarian assistance and emergency response operations whenever required.
