[10/08/2025, 7:06:32 pm] Hire Your Media Chic: Nigeria’s non-oil exports surged to $3.225 billion in the first half of 2025, reflecting a 19.59% increase from $2.696 billion in the same period last year, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has revealed.

Presenting the H1 2025 Non-Oil Export Performance Report in Abuja on Sunday, NEPC Director-General, Nonye Ayeni, said export volumes also grew to 4.04 million metric tonnes from 3.83 million metric tonnes in 2024. She noted that 236 distinct products were exported during the period, compared to 202 in H1 2024, marking a 16.83% rise.

According to Ayeni, cocoa beans topped the export chart with 34.88% of total export value, up from 23.18% in the same period last year. Urea/fertiliser ranked second with 17.65%, compared to 13.78% in H1 2024.

She credited the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for expanding market access, alongside NEPC’s interventions in quality standards, packaging, documentation, and certification. These efforts, she said, have encouraged exporters to shift from traditional agricultural goods to higher-value semi-manufactured products.

Ayeni added that demand from emerging economies such as India, Brazil, Vietnam, and several African countries had further boosted export earnings. She reaffirmed NEPC’s commitment to working with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment to increase export value and volume in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
