Nollywood is set to premiere a new and gripping movie titled My Family and the Bandit on May 31, 2025, at the prestigious Wisdom Plaza in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
The announcement was made by the Chief Executive Officer of Omedia Nigeria Limited, Mr. Orits Gee, who also serves as the film’s producer.
According to Orits Gee, “My Family and the Bandit,” explores the harrowing realities of kidnapping and banditry in Nigeria.
The film focuses on the emotional and psychological trauma experienced by families taken hostage, the struggles of negotiating with ruthless criminals, and the profound sacrifices made by security personnel working tirelessly to rescue victims.
It seeks to shine a spotlight on the national security crisis and calls for urgent government intervention.
“The film is more than just entertainment — it is a testimony of survival, resilience, and sacrifice,” said the producer. “It gives a human face to the tragic consequences of banditry, highlighting the bravery of the Nigerian armed forces and the pain endured by affected families.”
The premiere in Lokoja marks a historic milestone for Kogi State, as it will be the first major movie premiere to be hosted in the state. The red-carpet event will commence at 4:00 PM and promises an evening of glitz, glamour, and high-profile attendance.
Distinguished political leaders, Nollywood stars, and entertainment industry stakeholders are expected to grace the occasion.
Awards will be presented to outstanding cast and crew members, in recognition of their dedication and artistry in bringing the story to life.
Orits Gee Productions, the media powerhouse behind the film, is based in Abuja but has deep roots in Kogi State and is committed to developing local talent and promoting indigenous storytelling.
Tickets for the premiere are already available, and members of the public are encouraged to secure theirs early to avoid missing out on what promises to be a spectacular night.
The premiere is expected to leave a lasting impact on both the local film industry and the broader conversation around safety and resilience in the country.
