A notorious kidnap suspect on the wanted list of security agencies has been arrested by troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army under Operation Zafin Wuta in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to the statement signed by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the suspect, Umar Musa Geyi, was apprehended on 22 November 2025 at Jandei-Kulamu following credible intelligence. He is believed to be a key member of a kidnapping ring that has tormented several communities in the area.
Initial investigations link Geyi to the abduction of Alhaji Jano, a Fulani resident kidnapped on 13 November and still being held. Troops intercepted and arrested him during a phone call in which he confirmed the victim remained in captivity and demanded a ₦20 million ransom.
The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation to aid efforts to locate and rescue the victim. Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops’ swift action and restated the Brigade’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across Taraba State.
