In commemoration of the 2026 International Civil Defence Day, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has commissioned five strategic projects aimed at strengthening the Corps’ operational readiness and infrastructure nationwide.
The ceremony, held physically and virtually at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja, was performed by the Commandant General alongside the Board Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General Abdulmalik Jubril, who was ably represented by Alhaji Abubakar Musa, Deputy Director, Appointment and Promotion, in the presence of senior government officials, security chiefs, and distinguished guests.

According to a statement signed by the NSCDC’s National Public Relations Officer, ACC Babawale Afolabi, the projects include a Standard Mini Fire Fighting Station to enhance rapid emergency response; a VIP Protection Unit Office Complex named after the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to reinforce high-profile security operations; the Hydrocarbon and Maritime Security Command and Control Centre named after the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to strengthen surveillance and protection of oil and gas assets; and a 24-Unit Staff Quarters at the National Headquarters to improve personnel welfare.

The Bauchi State Command project was also commissioned virtually by the representative of the State Governor.
Speaking at the event, Professor Audi described the projects as a major milestone in the Corps’ ongoing transformation drive, noting that the facilities would significantly enhance its capacity to safeguard critical infrastructure and respond effectively to emerging security challenges.

He expressed appreciation to Zuma Energy Nigeria Limited and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for their partnership and sustained commitment to protecting Nigeria’s critical national assets.
