The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has urged party members to halt plans to purchase the 2027 presidential nomination form for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, after a group of youths from Kogi State bought the form on his behalf.
Yilwatda made the announcement on Monday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja after receiving a ₦100 million manager’s cheque from the group, led by the state governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“With this payment, nobody should bother bringing money again to buy a form for Mr President,” the chairman said. “The form has now been procured in advance.”
He praised the youths for what he described as apatriotic and historic” gesture, saying it marked a shift from the past where young people were “mere spectators” in governance. He added that their action reflected growing confidence in the President’s leadership.

Speaking to journalists afterwards, Yilwatda—flanked by members of the National Working Committee—said the youths cited improvements in the economy, progress in tackling insecurity in Kogi State, and increased youth inclusion in government as reasons for backing another term for President Tinubu.
“They said the economy is improving, that security operations in their communities have been strengthened, and that Mr President has given young people unprecedented opportunities,” the chairman said. He pointed to a number of appointments under the administration, including senior roles in the military, government agenciesand within the party itself.
The APC chairman described the gesture as unprecedented. “This is the first time in Nigeria’s history that youths are coming forward, not to ask for favours, but to support a President by purchasing his form,” he said. “They are an example to young people across the nation.”
Governor Ododo said the action reflected the appreciation of Kogi youths for what he called President Tinubu’s “record recognition” of young Nigerians in governance. “No government has given young people as much space as Mr President has done,” he said.
The purchase of the form comes as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 elections, with the APC leadership signalling early backing for a Tinubu re-election bid.
