The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has praised the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, describing his leadership of the agency and contributions to community development as a source of pride to the Ife Kingdom and the Modakeke community.
The monarch made the remarks during the annual Eid-el-Kabir gathering hosted by the Customs chief at his residence in Modakeke, Osun State, on May 28.

The event attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, senior customs officers, community stakeholders, family members and associates.
Oba Ogunwusi said President Bola AhmedTinubu’s public commendation of Adeniyi’s performance reflected confidence in the Customs boss and the achievements being recorded under his leadership.
According to the monarch, the President’s expression of satisfaction was a clear indication of trust in Adeniyi’s capacity and the results being delivered by the Nigeria Customs Service.

He described the Customs chief as a unifier whose leadership has continued to bring people together, adding that the Ife Kingdom would continue to support and pray for him.
Speaking at the gathering, Adeniyi expressed appreciation to the Ooni, community leaders, family members, friends and well-wishers for their support.
He said Eid-el-Kabir serves as a reminder of the virtues of sacrifice, gratitude,obedience and service to humanity, adding that the occasion also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships and reflect on collective efforts toward nation-building.

The Customs boss noted that the Nigeria Customs Service has continued to make significant progress in revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, technological innovation and corporate social responsibility initiatives in line with the economic objectives of the Federal Government.
He stated that the Service remains committed to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu through reforms designed to facilitate legitimate trade, enhance national security, improve compliance and stimulate economic growth.

Adeniyi further disclosed that the agencyhas sustained investments in community-focused programmes across the country, including educational support schemes, healthcare interventions and other projects aimed at improving the wellbeing of Nigerians.
He pledged that the Service would continue implementing reforms to strengthen its operations, promote professionalism and transparency, and deliver greater value to the nation.
The Comptroller-General also thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and assured Nigerians of the agency’s continued support for government policies geared towards economic development and national prosperity.
