Operation ENDURING PEACE has launched an agricultural support programme and security stakeholders’ engagement in Southern Kaduna ahead of the 2026 farming season.
In a statement signed by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the initiative is aimed at ensuring peaceful farming activities and improving relations among communities in the area.
The General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Folusho Oyinlola, spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday and represented by Brigadier General Mohammed Senlong Sule.

The meeting brought together traditional rulers, religious leaders and youth representatives from Jama’a, Kaura, Kauru, Zango Kataf and Jaba local government areas of Kaduna State.Oyinlola said peace and cooperation were necessary for a successful farming season, noting that insecurity often leads to poor harvests.
He warned against illegal arms production and increasing movement of cattle into farming areas, saying both issues could trigger farm destruction and reprisal attacks.
As part of a non-kinetic intervention approved by the Chief of Defence Staff, the operation distributed more than 760 bags of fertiliser to selected farmers across the five local government areas.

The military said the support was meant to improve agricultural output and show commitment to the welfare of residents beyond security operations.
Commander Sector 7 of the operation, Colonel Dele Fapohunda, urged communities to embrace dialogue and local conflict resolution mechanismsinstead of violence.
Chairman of Jama’a Local Government Area, Peter Tanko Dogara, called for understanding between farmers and herders and pledged continued dialogue to ensure a peaceful planting season.
