Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised three terrorists, recovered 175 rustled livestock, and arrested six suspected drug peddlers during operations across Katsina State.
In a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA , the military said the operations were carried out on May 9, 2026, across Matazu, Musawa, Kankia, Dutsin-Ma, and Malumfashi Local Government Areas.
The statement said troops of the 171 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base FUDMA ambushed suspected terrorists along the Matazu–Dutsin-Ma axis following intelligence reports on the movement of fleeing terrorists from recent military operations in Dikawa.

During the operation, three terrorists were killed, while troops recovered two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines, one motorcycle, three cutlasses, and assorted charms.
The military also disclosed that troops, supported by the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, carried out clearance operations in Torcachi, Giginya, and Tashar Ganji villages in Matazu, Musawa, and Kankia LGAs.
According to the statement, suspected terrorists abandoned the camps and fled during the operation, leading to the recovery of 175 rustled livestock now in military custody pending transfer to relevant local authorities.

Meanwhile, troops of Forward Operating Base Malumfashi, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, raided a suspected drug hideout at Kauyan Dawo in Malumfashi LGA.
The operation led to the arrest of six suspects identified as Sani Rabiu, Umar Nasiru, Abulkubus Aminu, Abdullahi Halilu, Abubakar Rabiu, and Abubakar Dahiru.
Recovered substances included 82.5 grams of suspected Cannabis Sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5, and 1.8 grams of D5.

The suspects and recovered drugs have been handed over to the NDLEA Malumfashi Area Command for further investigation and prosecution.
The military said troops would continue offensive operations against terrorists and criminal elements across the North-West region.
