Operation HADIN KAI has dismissed as false and misleading a viral social media video alleging non-payment of allowances to troops and victimisation of a soldier in the North-East theatre of operations.
According to a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, the Theatre Command said all legitimate allowances due to troops had been fully paid up to May 2026, stressing that the money referenced in the video was not an operational allowance.
The statement explained that troops under Operation HADIN KAI had received their Ration Cash Allowance, Operational Allowance, and Habit Allowance without any outstanding issues. It clarified that the complaint in the video related to an additional incentive paid to personnel providing security at a critical national asset in Tuba, whichis only disbursed when funds are available.
The command noted that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation initially handled the payment before discontinuing it after halting exploration activities, adding that the Borno State Government later assumed responsibility while efforts were ongoing to include troops in the existing payment arrangement for police personnel and volunteer forces.
It further stated that during an operational visit, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Solomon Diwa, assured affected troops that he would engage relevant authorities to facilitate payment once funds were released.
Operation HADIN KAI also denied claims that any soldier was intimidated or punished, maintaining that the welfare and fair treatment of personnel remained a top priority for the Nigerian Army.
The command alleged that preliminary findings indicated the video was produced by a “mischievous content creator” using information from disgruntled individuals to tarnish the image of the Armed Forces.
It warned that the circulation of such information violated the Nigerian Armed Forces’ social media policy and stated that measures were in place to address breaches in line with military regulations.
The Theatre Command urged media organisations and the public to avoid spreading unverified information capable of undermining troop morale and national security efforts, while reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the North-East.
